Ember is a red-and-silver Akita with black brindle stripes. She once wore a green, leather collar, but removed it after joining Ohu. She currently only has a scar on her cheek from a bullet grazing her.

Ember is a very loyal and noble dog, respecting the orders of her master and any other human she meets. She's not the most social dog, having been raised on a farm with only her master as her source of company. She's very dedicated to her work, and refuses to back down from any creature without a fight. Often, she wonders about her father, and what he would've been like had she gotten to know him better. She feels bad for Gin, not believing that a puppy his age should undergo such training. She might respect humans, but she certainly doesn't like Gohei.
Ember was born to Riki and an Akita female in order to breed new bearhounds. Gohei, Riki's owner, had no interest in training Ember, as she was a female, and the old man didn't believe in a female hunting dog. Ember was, instead, sold to a man who owned a farm away from the village. Ember grew up learning to herd her master's animals, and would occasionally battle against bears, foxes and birds. Despite her lack of training, she always seemed to have a way of fighting, almost as if it was in her blood. Occasionally, her master would take her to the village with him to sell his goods, and she would often see her father and brothers with their master, Gohei. They'd exchange bits of small talk, but were never really close. Then one day, Riki and her brothers, Aka and Don, were said to have died in the forest by Akakabuto, and Gohei had taken on a new dog to train: her younger half-brother, Gin.
